Chatel and Avoriaz - weekend 15th & 16th December 2007
Snow fell
heavily over the area during the previous weekend and into
the beginning of the week, giving fantastic cover for the
time of year. Resorts were quoting
well over
a metre
of
snow
on
upper slopes.
Skiing and boarding conditions were superb.
Temperatures were about -10°C in the car park as lifts
opened, and only warmed up a little during the day. On-piste
was excellent packed powder whilst off-piste was powdery
bliss. If this had been part of the previous season,
everyone would have been describing this as the best weekend
of the season!
Lift
queues
were non-existent
and it was sunny all weekend - though we were looking down
onto cloud in the valleys below.
